Recently, there has been a great deal of controversy over the important values of life. More and more people tend to believe that security would be of the utmost importance due to escalating wars and the rapid climax of terrorism. Nevertheless, the opponents of this view maintain that freedom and independence should be the deciding factor of people’s notions and way of thinking. I firmly believe that having freedomand independence is much more crucial.

Throughout history, numerous methods of teaching have been adopted in class; the most controversial of which, ‘Rote Learning’. Why is this method of teaching despised by modern educators? Does it have any merits? Should it be abolished completely? Below, we will examine the aspects of this teaching method as well as evaluate the benefits of modern teaching techniques such as the development of critical thinking.
