Another Life, Another Time

Who are we in life and what defines us as individuals? I often find myself pondering these questions when in reality, the answers are much more simpler than they seem. Seeing how this is an educational blog, I’d like to share my thoughts and conclusions to these questions, as 2017 comes to a close…

One of the most defining moments in an person’s life, is change. Whether it’s a new job, breaking up with someone or completely turning your life around, we often underestimate ourselves, ignoring the incredible capacity we have as intelligent beings to adapt.

I made crucial decisions this year concerning many aspects of my life. Was I daunted? I would be a fool if I weren’t. However, we tend to over-complicate things in life and always have a tendency to look at the darker side of things.

To be more specific, after realizing that the relationship I was in had no future, I moved on. It hurt, but time heels many wounds. I also made a career change and started teaching at a new school. New colleagues, new students – a completely new environment.

In the end though, if we keep our head high and work hard, we can overcome any obstacle. Perhaps the most rewarding feelings I gained were those of acceptance and love from both colleagues and students alike. We sometimes forget how lucky we are to be surrounded by people who care or even look up to us.

Balancing between a career as a teacher, an author, a spokeswoman and a model, is sometimes overwhelming, but the feeling of self satisfaction that fills my heart at the end of the day, makes me realize that I’m privileged to be given the chance in life to do so many things and inspire others in the process of doing so.

In conclusion, what have I learned the past year? That we shouldn’t be afraid of new challenges, that we must always pursue our dreams no matter how far-fetched they seem and that we ought to appreciate the people who are there for us; the ones who support and love us.

I would like to thank you all for your devotion and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
